Provider-Based BIlling Transition Toolkit and Services
With an estimated 80% of practices integrating or considering integration with their hospital/health system, many groups are considering making the transition to provider-based billing for outpatient services. Provider-based billing generally has favorable financial implications for organizations resulting in opportunities for significant increases in reimbursement.
Although the results are worth the effort, the process of transitioning to provider-based billing can be a daunting and time-consuming project. The research, feasibility planning and project management needed to bring a successful project quickly to completion is demanding and requires both focus and expertise.
In the spirit of sharing knowledge and experiences, MedAxiom has harnessed the expertise and best practices of our network to create a toolkit to walk you through the transition process to provider-based billing, beginning with the initial revenue analysis and evaluation of various billing options.
REVENUE ANALYSIS
Our billing and coding experts have partnered with our experienced members to create a thorough revenue analysis tool to calculate the estimated impact that transitioning to provider-based billing would have on your organization, for all applicable sites, including options for transitioning your testing services only, E&M only, and the two combined. The results of this analysis are provided to you in a format that is easy for executives at all levels to quickly review and understand in order to make an informed decision that is most beneficial to your practice or hospital.
PROVIDER-BASED BILLING TRANSITION TOOLKIT
If the decision is made to transition your organization to provider-based billing, whether through the revenue cycle analysis provided by MedAxiom or one conducted with your internal finance and compliance teams, you then must embark on the process of transitioning all the workflow processes and billing functions associated with the services you will convert. This transition involves a large time and resource commitment in order to adequately alter and/or prepare your patients, staff, physical space and work processes, while ensuring compliance with the CMS guidelines, which is essential in order to avoid ramifications in the future.
Our toolkit will provide you with all of the guidance and tools you need to prepare and execute a smooth and compliant transition to a provider-based billing model, minimizing your risk.

MedAxiom also offers more full scale project coaching and project management for those that feel they may not have the internal resources or skills to devote to the project, as well as, specialty consulting services for process redesign, asset management and coding and billing compliance and training as it pertains to the transition to provider-based billing.
